"Braaaaaah!" Sonic screamed as he sat up in a pile of leaves. "Ugh, another bad dream..." He laid his head on a pillow created out of a pile of leaves and attempted to go to sleep. Meanwhile, in his dreams...
"Chip, run... Now!" A dark purple substance covered the hedgehog. It was paralysing him as he tried to escape from the blob, but with no luck. It reached his head, as he felt dizzy, his mind was escaping from him.
"Not again..." Sonic grumbled as he woke up again. "Stupid dreams, can't sleep now with them!"
"Sonic?" A chipper voice came from behind some trees. A yellow fox popped from behind it and noticed Sonic with a scared expression on his leaf blanket, holding his legs in his arms. "Are you okay here?"
"No, I mean yes, I mean--"
"You're having bad dreams again Sonic. You always get like this when you have a bad dream! It's about Eggman again, isn't it?"
"No," Sonic replied. "It was... Me getting... Destroyed by Dark Gaia, and Chip couldn't save me..."
"It's alright Sonic," The fox said, giving assuring pats on the back. "Besides, that was four years ago, and you saved the world. Dark Gaia didn't destroy you. Are you sure you'll be okay here?"
"I'm sure. It's probably just because I remembered about when I was the Werehog and stuff."
"Okay, if you say so Sonic."
Sonic attempted to go back to sleep, but was awoken by the rustling of trees and bushes nearby.
"Ugh, I just can't get any sleep around here!!" A growling sound was coming from nearby, but Sonic couldn't figure out the source of it.
"That's him."
"Hey, is anyone there?" Sonic asked. "This ain't funny!"
"No-one of your interest."
"Look, who is this speaking and why are you speaking to me? Helloooo~?" Sonic was so busy trying to find who just spoke to him that he didn't notice a certain red thing leap onto him and knock him out, despite the size.
Sonic finally came to. He was on the ground on his side, alongside him was a little red and cream, winged friend who he had not seen for years.
"C-chip?" Sonic stuttered. He cleared his throat and went over to the little friend of his. "But it can't be... You were trapped with Dark Gaia... How in the..." He gasped as he turned Chip around. He felt intimidated by his friend's eyes; they were green and slim, unlike a few years ago, and they sent shivers down Sonic's spine.
"You are a part of the being Dark Gaia."
"Okay, enough with the creepy, unknown voices!" Sonic said.
"You still have it in you."
"What, the force from Star Wars?" The hedgehog said sarcastically.
"You are Dark Gaia."
"What do you--" he was cut off by a dark purple aura emitting from his chest, and his energy seeping away with the aura. "But, how...?"
"I think it's time for you to find that out on your own..."
The aura disappeared from Sonic. It was only then he noticed Flickies, Cuckies, Pickies and more hiding from him. He approached a Flicky, hoping for a positive reaction, but it hid even further in the forest surrounding him. He tried with all the others. Same response. Why was this happening? The animals are never scared of him. So why are they scared of him now? He also saw his buddy Miles hiding too.
"Tails," Sonic asked. "Why are you hiding from me?"
"Wait, is that you, Sonic?!" Miles said as he flew over to his friend. "What happened to you?"
Sonic looked down at himself. There didn't seem to be anything wrong to him at all.
